Kevin Hsia runs a monthly get-together in the city of Chicago. He is perennially on the hunt for new locations, new DJs, and above all, new music. Each month, Hsia hosts a listening party for vinyl lovers and wine enthusiasts alike. His listening party is cryptically titled Wine & Vinyl.
This month's Wine & Vinyl was hosted in collaboration with yours truly, Gramovox. We had been looking to host a listening party at our new space in the South Loop, but didn't want to dive in without the expertise of someone who had been putting on similar shindigs for some time now. Enter Mr. Hsia—vinyl junkie, funk and soul enthusiast, DJ, and founder of Wine & Vinyl.
The event was hosted two Fridays ago at our office space in the South Loop. It was not only a great way to meet new people and hear new music, but also an opportunity to answer questions about our products in-person.
A disco ball lit the front portion of our office space, tossing neo-70s vibes at the DJ table stationed off to the left. The event was BYOB, so the long, middle section of our office was a mix and match of local Chicago beer and wine. We went all out, screenprinting custom coasters for the event as well. Towards the back, we had a Nintendo Entertainment System projected onto the wall—allowing for a casual 10x10 foot display of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.
We had a great time, and look forward to hosting another event in the near future. To keep up on updates and events from Gramovox, keep an eye on our Facebook. If you like vinyl, new music, and music meet-ups, Wine & Vinyl is a great page to follow as well. Hope to see you at the next one!
